A creepy little tale

This is one of the early Philip K. Dick stories but it has the classic themes that will be explored in more detail in his later novels. The main character is a common man who sees something wrong with his world, something out of place. What develops is sinister and enough to make anyone question their grip on what is real. If you like disturbing tales from the Twilight Zone you'll find this tale worth your time.

Excellent, Early Dick

This short story is from very early in Philip K. Dick's career (1953), but the theme of paranoia which would be so important in his later work is already fully developed here. This story was published about a year before Jack Finney published his novel Invasion of the Body Snatchers; I don't know if Finney was influenced by Dick, but there are certainly parallels between this story and Finney's novel.

Addictive Desires- feel the burn ....

A revamped rewritten Vampire story scored with moments of bold drama and untamed sensuality .

Plot
The key character Tess has a tender innocence to begin with , reluctant to get involved with the heavyweights of the paranormal scene she is eventually forced to seek the protection of Vampire nobility and beat the braying wolves close on her heels .

Themes -multi layered but I will focus on the central aspect of the novel

The symbiosis between Tess and "Symon" the lead male in the novel is electric . He is a Vampire with a strapping appetite for carnal pursuits and pushes Tess all the way . This relationship dynamic leads to some risqué scenes framed with a crushing sexual intensity that leads to more temptation .

Style

The narrative follows convention , the characters are extremely well formed and it is a neat- well finished work that will be well received by fans of this genre .

Great book!

I had the pleasure of reading Wide Awake, written by Jade Cooper. This book was phenomenal and had me hooked from the first page. I have really grown fond of vampire and werewolf romance novels and this is one of the best I have read. This book has a great paranormal background and has strong characters that are well written. There is a bit of erotica included in this book but its not overly distracting. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance.

REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK BUT

...I'M not sure whether the author plans to continue the series. I am rather upset at this point to realize that I have been drawn into and fallen under the spell of a series that may not even continue. This book was released in Oct 2012 and I have no leads regarding whether there will be a sequel or whether the series will be continued. The author makes no mention of the latter @ the end of the book.

The story has all the elements necessary for a thrilling and erotic vampire romance series. Symon is an orgasmaicly salacious Lord/King of the vampire who's discovery of his mate is accompanied by a whole lot of drama and possible cataclysmic repercussions. I like Tess so far. The author manages to get a whole lot of story into these 76 pages. The sex scenes are hot but could be a tad bit more explicit. It ends in a cliff hanger so it up to you whether you want to read this book and get hooked on a series that may or may not be continued. I sure hope the author continues this series. HOPE UR READING THIS JADE!!!

About the Author

Sean D. Murphy is the Patricia Roberts Harris Research Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School, and a Member of the U.N. International Law Commission. Professor Murphy received his B.A. from Catholic University of America, J.D. from Columbia University, LL.M. from Cambridge University, and S.J.D. from the University of Virginia. From 1987 to 1995, Professor Murphy served in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State, specializing in international environmental law, the law of war, and international claims. From July 1995 to July 1998, Professor Murphy served as the Legal Counselor of the U.S. Embassy in The Hague. Professor Murphy has represented several countries in international courts and tribunals, including Ethiopia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Suriname, and the United States. He has published articles in a variety of national and international law journals, and his books include Principles of International Law (2nd Edition, 2012) and Foreign Relations and National Security Law (with Franck, Glennon & Swaine, 4th Edition, 2012). Professor Murphy has served on the Board of Editors of the American Journal of International Law and is a Member of the U.N. International Law Commission.

Won Kidane is an Associate Professor of Law at the Seattle University School of Law. Professor Kidane earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois after obtaining LL.M in International and Comparative Law from the University of Georgia and LL.B from Addis Ababa University School of Law. From 2001 to 2005, Professor Kidane practiced international arbitration in Washington D.C. From 2005 to 2008, Professor Kidane taught at the Penn State Dickenson School of Law. Professor Kidane joined the faculty of the Seattle University School of Law in 2008 and has since been teaching international arbitration and litigation, among other courses. Kidane has published several law review articles and a book entitled: China-Africa Dispute Settlement: The Law, Economics and Culture of Arbitration (2011).

Thomas R. Snider is a Counsel in the international arbitration practice group at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP in Washington D.C. Mr. Snider received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. Since 2000, Mr. Snider has represented clients in a wide range of matters involving international dispute resolution, including state-to-state arbitration, international commercial arbitration, international investment disputes, and U.S. court litigation involving the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act. He is the co-author, along with Professor Kidane, of Combating Corruption Through International Law in Africa: A Comparative Analysis, 40 Cornell International Law Journal 691 (2007).
