Wow! Another rollicking, fun-filled, laugh-out-loud, feel-good romantic adventure from Jessie Donovan! She truly knows how to tickle our funny-bone, warm our hearts and leaves us with a smile on our face every single time. Reading has always been my passion and I've certainly read an unfathomable number of books in my sixty-three years of life but, hands down, one of the best decisions I've ever made was purchasing and reading my first Jessie Donovan novel. She never fails to deliver not only an exceptionally well developed, well written and well edited book but also what I like to call a grab-you, keep-you story with engaging and endearing characters. And this book is no exception! Once you start reading, you simply can't put it down! Although this story can be read as a standalone, I would like to also highly recommend reading all of her previously published Stonefire British Dragon Series. If you enjoy this story, then you will absolutely love her other dragon-shifter books as well.
Lovely Scottish nurse and midwife Holly Anderson has totally run out of options which happened when she unfortunately ran out of money. She has no other family and now has no further recourse available to her other than to quite literally sell herself as a willing sacrifice to the Lochguard Dragon Clan in exchange for a vial of dragon blood. Huh? Sacrifice??? Oh yes, but don't worry, the dragons don't intend to eat her. Although the dragon blood can not heal her father's cancer, it can be sold to provide the funds to cover the cost of his expensive cancer treatments. Now all she has to do is travel to Clan Lochguard and offer herself to her preassigned dragonman, Fergus MacKenzie, and provide him with a child. Huh? Oh, and somehow manage to survive the unfavorable odds of dying while giving birth to said dragon-shifter baby. Oh my! Then and only then can she return home to care for her recovering father. Regrettably, the one thing Holly had not anticipated was being attracted to her dragonman's twin brother, Fraser MacKenzie. What? And falling in love with him! Oh my! She's the first human sacrifice to set foot on Lochguard land in fifteen years and if she fails to fulfill her contract with the Department of Dragon Affairs, she could be able held liable and put in prison. Oh no! And sadly, that's only one of many problems to be overcome. There's also the matter of the rogue dragons who want to kidnap and kill her. What the heck? What's a stubborn bonnie lass to do???
Dragonman Fraser MacKenzie only wanted to get a sneak peek at his brother's new human sacrifice to make sure the human was worthy of his twin. Unfortunately, he had not counted on his dragon's reaction to the beautiful spirited female. What's a dragonman to do when he realizes his true mate is promised to his twin brother??? I'll never tell. No spoilers from me but I will say this....Handsome, flirtatious dragon shifter-check! Beautiful sassy human midwife - check! A villainous group of rogue dragons-check! A wonderful cast of characters-check! Danger, drama, adventure and a nefarious plot-check! Heated attraction, steamy passion, heartbreaking angst, heartwarming romance, dreamy sex and a healthy measure of humor-you bet! That and a whole lot more! Deliciously cute and delightfully entertaining!!!

Dragons Dilemma or How To Get the Girl with One Kiss!

The story opens on a young woman, Holly Anderson, getting out of a Taxi at the gates to Clan Lochguard, talking to herself about having a baby with a dragon-shifter and the reasons she is here. It brings tears to her eyes when she thinks of her Father, back at home battling for his life due to cancer, the reason she was here in the first place. She almost lost her nerve. That’s when she meets the tall, charismatic leader of Clan Lochguard, Finlay Stewart. Finn puts her at ease with a wink. This is just the beginning!
Holly Anderson is a devoted daughter who would do anything to help her ailing Dad. She happens to be an OB/GYN Nurse well versed in dealing with Mums and Dads in the throes of Labor. So Holly knows all about the having a baby part. Fergus and Fraser MacKenzie are the loud, boisterous, unruly, hunky, luscious nice -looking identical twin cousins of Finn. Fergus is the calm, serious, studious, romantic, and Fraser the nosey, act-first-think-later, fun loving one, ladies -man! Both hold clan close and family closer.
Fraser and Holly meet, when Fraser successfully stalks her, peering over fences and looking in windows. Arabella makes a deal with Fraser to “clean up the garden” if she lets him meet Holly. Their first meeting was cold, Holly excused herself, leaving Fraser talking with his dragon. Fraser knows he’s in deep trouble when his dragon starts talking about the tall, brunette being “ours”, and “Im going after her”. Holly Anderson is Fraser MacKenzie’s true mate!
Fraser’s goose is cooked! On one hand he would love to do nothing more than sweep the lass off her feet and steal her away. On the other hand Holly was designated as Fergus Sacrifice, she would go to prison if she broke the rules, and oh yeah! Finn would kill him! All he had to do was not get near her and above all, never kiss her! Easier said than done!
Dinner with MacKenzies is a wild affair. Fraser and Holly meet accidently upstairs away from the family. Fraser can’ keep his dragon contained, He MUST HAVE Holly!!!! Fraser tries to get Holly in a compromising positon. But as they are about to meet lips, Finn intervenes!
Fraser pleads with Finn telling him Holly is his true mate. Fraser asks and Holly agrees to have the DDA transfer the contract from Fergus to Fraser. Holly learns from Aunt Lorna and Finn about Mate Frenzy. She’s both terrified and curious about how sex with Fraser nonstop till she was pregnant would go. All she knows is her life as she knew it has drastically changed!
The dragon dance continues with Fraser and Holly going through a wild, sensual mate frenzy. Holly and Fraser grow closer. Rogue dragons try to steal Holly while she and Fraser she go to Aberdeen to see her Father. Fraser and other Lochguard dragons pursue. But questions remain. How does Fergus deal with Fraser and Holly’s betrayal? Does Fraser get Holly in the end? You’ve got to read the book!
Jessie Donovan has woven a very successful Dragon-shifter Universe centered around the British isles. The Dragons Dilemma introduces us to another Clan, Lochguard. We caught glimpses of Lochguard in another story about clan leader Finn Stewart and his strong-willed mate Arabella in “Healed by the Dragon”. Jessie weaves a complex yet simple world around her dragon-shifters. Her characters are believable and make you feel as if you were there. I have read all of her dragon-shifter books and appreciate her humor as well as her male/female interaction. I cannot wait to see what happens to Fergus and others from Lochguard!

This is the first in a spin-off series from the Stonefire Dragon series. You can start reading here, but I definitely do NOT recommend it. If you want to understand the world and characters, I highly recommend starting with the Stonefire series because it makes everything amazingly better :) As with the other series, this is for adults only due to the steamy dragon enhanced scenes.
This is Fraser’s story (he is one of the twins who are Finn’s cousins and Faye’s sister). I was pulled right into the story and loved that it was a complete story, so no waiting for parts to come out (not that I wouldn’t wait for Jessie’s stories because they always rock!) Holly is a firecracker, and I loved her humor as well as the lesson she teaches Fraser’s dragon (had me rollin’, but I refused to ruin the surprise)! I know I will love this series as much as the Stonefire series, and I can’t wait to see what Jessie cooks up next :)
I highly recommend this dragontastic series!!
